Another advantage to using CAT5e cable is its support of Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, and Gigabit Ethernet. Bandwidth is important because it is the information-carrying aspect of the system; CAT5e is rated at 350 megahertz, an improvement upon CAT5. Finally, CAT5e upgraded the thickness of its PVC protective jacket, which has improved the cable’s durability.
